A New Beginning for the Therapy Garden: A Hopeful Step for Individuals with Disabilities

Bornova Municipality is revitalizing the Therapy Garden in Karacaoğlan Neighborhood, originally built in 2019 but never fully utilized, transforming it into an active living space for individuals with disabilities. Mayor Ömer Eşki announced that the renewed area will include horseback riding, playgrounds, and various activities, aiming to serve people in need from all over İzmir. The project will be implemented in close cooperation with civil society organizations.

During an on-site visit with municipal officials, Mayor Eşki assessed what was missing in the facility and shared information about the upcoming improvements.

Mayor Eşki: “We are honored to bring this space to life”
“The therapy garden was designed back in 2019 as a dedicated space for children with disabilities,” said Mayor Eşki. “It was planned as a collaborative effort with several NGOs. Now, we are taking the necessary steps to bring it to life. By partnering again with these organizations, we’ll provide activities aimed at helping children both enjoy their time and improve their motor skills.”

Horseback riding, play, and peace
With renovation efforts underway, the garden will soon feature horseback riding areas, playgrounds, and spaces for social events. Mayor Eşki emphasized that this garden will become a safe and peaceful center for children with disabilities, adding:
“There are still some deficiencies, but we will fix them. This space will allow children to engage in social life, feel at peace, ride horses, play in the park, and participate in meaningful activities. We will soon make this facility available to our citizens in Bornova and those across İzmir who need it. We are committed to doing our part in an area where support is greatly needed.”
